Thanks Matt and Jane at Hutchinson Builders who allowed 10 students from our Certificate I in Construction class to visit their site at Trinity Bay State High School. Students gained insight into a number of trades, particularly as they relate to commercial building sites. Watching videos or seeing photographs don’t compare with the value of being onsite during a building’s construction. Students observed the work of carpenters, form workers, block layers, electricians, plumbers, plasterers, renderers and a range of other trades. Watching a tradesperson's approach to working and safety in practice in a tangible context provides students with a realistic feel for what it would be like to be working in that trade. Thanks, BLA and Hutchinson Builders for this fantastic opportunity.
Kind Regards
