What does BLA do?
The BLA is a not for profit organisation that has forged strong working relationships with all secondary schools in the region and provides secondary students with relevant, up to date knowledge, skills and resources to meet the current and evolving scope of the business community.
Is it just for schools and colleges?
Yes our services are for secondary school students, in particular years 10, 11 and 12.
How long has BLA been around?
The BLA was established in 1993.
How many people are involved?
Approx 13,000 students across Far North Queensland.
Does it cost the schools to be involved in BLA?
Each school donates funds to the Association to assist with operating expenses.
There is also a registration fee that the schools pay to enter student/s in our awards and competitions - this is a one-off fee per category not per student.
Do sponsors have to do anything?
Sponsors are not expected to undertake any duties or tasks, but many do volunteer to assist at events or be part of judging panels for awards and competitions.
What awards and competitions are offered?
The BLA has two Award Presentation Nights where they acknowledge students for excellence. These awards and competitions cover a variety of subjects from Performing Arts to Accounting and Business to Design and Technology. For information about these awards please check out our website.
