ERGON ENERGY VISITS On Tuesday 15 March, 12 students from years 10 to 12 went to Ergon Energy to hear about career pathways in the company, and how they can best utilise the wonderful opportunities provided at school to achieve their goals. The students were spoken to by electrical engineers, diesel mechanics, electricians, engineering paraprofessionals, team leaders and HR representatives, and were able to ask as many questions as they wanted to find out what it takes to work for Ergon. Brekkie with the Tradies Over 100 students from St Augustine's College, Trinity Anglican School, Trinity Bay State High School, Holy Spirit College, Good Counsel College, Bently Park College, Innisfail State College, Kuranda District School and Djarragun College attended our second Brekkie with the Tradies held in conjunction with TAFE Queensland. Students enjoyed Speakers from Kick On, GMH Electrical, MAE Refrigeration, Northern Innovations, Norweld and Tablelands Regional Council representing electrical, fabrication, refrigeration and building industries. 2021 Annual Aspire Awards Over 500 students, parents, teachers and sponsors attended the recent Business Liaison Association's Annual Aspire Awards. 23 award categories sponsored by local businesses saw students receiving prizes and bursaries to support them in their chosen career paths. HUTCHINSON BUILDERS SITE VISIT On the 13th of October 2021 9 students, consisting of 2 teachers, 8 boys and 1 female student attended the new Cairns City Council animal shelter that is being constructed in Woree by Hutchinson Constructions. Upon arrival, students made sure they were wearing their required PPE and went through a site induction process. From here they were shown several aspects of the new site as well as where the different animal sections were to be located.
