The DATTA Awards are presented to Design Technology students in both Junior and Senior Secondary schools across Far North Queensland. These prestigious awards aim to foster the study of Design Technology subjects and inspire students to showcase their technical knowledge, design skills, and craftsmanship.
First introduced in 1993 as the Industrial Technology and Design Awards, they were initially sponsored by Cairns Region Group Training (now Skill360 Australia). We are proud to acknowledge that Skill360 Australia has remained a valued sponsor of these awards for over 32 years.
In 2019, the awards expanded to include 25 categories, each proudly sponsored by 25 different organisations. In 2020, the awards were further reviewed and grew to 26 categories, incorporating themes of innovation, enterprise, and environmental sustainability.
Students are strongly encouraged to enter, as all submissions are judged by an Industry Panel based on current industry standards. This endorsement by industry professionals provides students with invaluable recognition and is an excellent opportunity for those pursuing a career in these fields. Additionally, students will be awarded financial prizes to support their continued studies and career development in their chosen discipline.
24 DATTA awards are being offered in 2026:
