iEngage Program

iENGAGE PROGRAM

"Student Industry Engagement Program"

2021 has seen the rebranding of our previous Student Industry Site Visits to iEngage “Student Industry Engagement Program”. This program is for secondary school students to explore various industries through onsite visits, allowing them to make more informed decisions when choosing their career pathways as they leave school.

The reason for rebranding was to reduce confusion amongst the businesses participating in the new iEngage program and the program is gaining traction within the community.

The Business Liaison Association has been successfully coordinating student onsite visits for a couple of years in conjunction with the following companies:

  1. Hutchinson Builders
  2. BDO
  3. Ergon Energy
  4. Norweld Australia

NEW PARTNERSHIP

The Business Liaison Association together with the Cairns Manufacturing Hub have the same vision and have joined forces to expand this program in 2021/2022 to include an additional 15 manufacturing companies.  These wonderful local businesses identify that they are struggling to encourage apprentices and trainees into their industry.  By participating in this program they hope to inspire students into the industries below.

These companies include:

  1. CIE (Cristaudo's Industrial Electrics) Pty Ltd
  2. APG Manufacturing (Australian Professional Galvanizing)
  3. CSF Industries
  4. Tropical Reef Shipyards
  5. Austal Australia
  6. Norship
  7. ARO Industries
  8. Neamco
  9. Perrott Engineering
  10. Status Signs
  11. Kelly's Waterblasting Australia
  12. EDMS
  13. Glasstech
  14. Rocky Creek Orchards - Tablelands
  15. GTB Engineering - Tully

Overall the program now has 18 companies in total participating in industry onsite visits.  This allows both students and teachers to be able to view firsthand practices and innovations in the workplace, and then implement the knowledge gained into classroom learnings.

Special thanks to the CMH for their support to grow this program.
