ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS At Bentley Park College two groups of students were able to participate in the workshop run by Engineers Without Borders, a year 7 Aspire and year 9 Aspire class. Both groups contain students that have high academic results in core subjects and who are on an ATAR pathway. The presented workshop, Floating Houses, was chosen by both class teachers as it related to content that students either recently had exposure to or will later this term. VISITING AUTHOR DANIELLE BINKS The visiting author workshop lead by Danielle Binks on the 25th of July involved 51 students from Cairns State High School. The exploration of Danielle’s relationship with literature and reading was a relevant experience, and one that students identified with as they navigate their schooling years. Students could identify with how passion towards literature can diminish because of academic demands surrounding the text. Aspirations Day The Business Liaison Association is proud to be a part of the annual Aspirations Day. Seven regional schools, ten guest speakers and twelve adjudicators met at Cairns State High on Monday 5th of September for the Aspirations Day forum and Navigating our Narratives Regional Public Speaking competition. The day was attended by over five hundred students, their families and friends from the wider community at Crosswell Hall. Held at Cairns State High School and in conjunction with Cairns Central Travel, Aspirations Day aims to develop proficiency in 21st Century skills and provide learners with the opportunity to meet with representatives from professional organisaitons, associations and academeic institutions.
