Well, what a day. Yesterday thousands of students from Cairns and Far North Queensland took advantage of the many exhibitors the BLA had gathered at the Cairns Show Grounds Fred Moule Pavilion.
Unfortunately, our interstate exhibitors couldn't make it this year however, they have assured us they will be back. Our Queensland exhibitors had plenty of exciting career pathways to offer the students and our local manufacturers and training providers stepped up and came along to show the students what was available right here in Cairns and Far North Queensland.
The BLA must thank the many volunteers from our Committee and from local Rotary Clubs that assisted us with crowd control and zoning yesterday. It was imperative that we maintained a COVID Safe Event to ensure the safety of our students and exhibitors and we would not have been able to do this without the support we received. A big thank you to the students and teaching staff for ensuring all social distancing rules were followed.
Our exhibitors provided an amazing level of interactive and visually exciting options for the students. Exhibits were as hands on as we possibly could have at the moment and students managed to experience many exciting career opportunity options. Everything from resuscitating a mannequin to applying its lash extensions. Riding in everything from a police car to a helicopter. Driving everything from a drone to a bulldozer. Our exhibitors put on quite a show and the students thoroughly enjoyed it.
After school we opened the doors to the general public and offered them the same experiences and opportunities as the students.
The BLA is proud of the relationship it helps foster between business and industry and the students of our region and we look forward to doing it all over again next year.
