ECOMAN Competition

"Over the 23 and 24 May 26 students from Redlynch State High Sschool, Cairns State High School, Trinity Anglican School, Smithfield State High School and Gordonvale State High School attended the ECOMAN Competition. The Competition was held at the Grant Thorton officed in the Cairns Corporate Tower. Over the two days the students had to transform a company which was in receivership to a high performing business. Students had to take on various roles within the company and make decisions which were inputted into the ECOMAN Software which ultimately determined which school team had the best share price.

The two days were very rigorous and the students had to use all their economic and business knowledge to make the right decisions for the benefit of the company. The rigour engaged the students who were driven by competition between the 5 groups.

As per last year the ECOMAN presenters did an outstanding job supporting the students throughout the process. Ultimately Smithfield State High School won the event with Cairns State High School coming in a very close second. Redlynch State High School took out third place. In saying that there was only 4 dollars on the share price which separated all the teams making it the closest competition in the state.

Grant Thornton provided the venue for the two days and it was an outstanding location for the event. They went above and beyond to ensure our students had everything they needed to compete at such a high level."
