Business Liaison Association
By Hannah Skews (Malanda State High School) 19 October, 2017 Careers

Recently, James Cook University, in collaboration with the Business Liaison Association, hosted a breakfast presenting the opportunity to learn more aboutSports, Health and Exercise Science Careers of the Future. Approximately 130 students from around the region, reaching as far as Cooktown, travelled to Cairns to listen to guest speakers and learn about job pathways.

Kelly Sinclair, JCU Sport and Exercise Science Lecturer, spoke of her journey and the possible outcomes of following this career path. At the end of her speech she left us with a Confucius quote, “Choose a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”. Louise Cooper is another inspiration woman and the managing director of Health Moves who prescribes exercise to combat chronic disease and psychology of lifestyle conditions.

The possibilities presented were real world relevant and with the health and fitness industry forging ahead jobs are sure to present themselves. Networking was also a key theme of the day, encouraging us to take every opportunity as it presents itself. We were left feeling inspired and wondering, “What is my plan?”
