Schools may nominate Year 12 students demonstrating excellence in their ATAR subjects, specifically, Engineering. The Jacobs Engineering Awards recognise outstanding problem-solving skills and a solutions-oriented mindset. Students must aspire to pursue a degree in engineering or a closely associated field at a tertiary level.
To be considered for these prestigious awards, students must comply with the following:
- Eligibility: Open to Year 12 students in Cairns and the region who are currently enrolled in an ATAR Engineering course.
- Requirements: Students must achieve a B grade or higher in school-based assessments for the relevant subjects.
- Project Requirements:
- Students must design and develop a physical or virtual prototype that provides an engineered solution to a civil structural problem.
- Along with the prototype, students must create a portfolio that communicates their problem-solving process to the client, along with the engineered solution.
- Provide a written submission as to their achievements, interest and future aspirations in the field of engineering.
- Judging Interview: Students must be available for an interview if shortlisted by the judging panel.
Closing Date: Friday 3rd October, 2025
First Prize: $1000
Second Prize: $700
Runner Up Prize: $300 x2
