The Business Liaison Association once again provided students with the opportunity to meet the University of Queensland's Wonder of Science Ambassador. Elise Kellet traveled to schools and shared her experience with STEM studies. A PhD cndidate at the Queensland Brain Institute, Elise studies two neurodegenerative disorders, ALS and dementia by looking into two proteins within these diseases.
"Thanks yet again to you and the BLA for setting these events up! We had Elise this morning speaking to our Year 11 and 12 Science students and the kids said the lecture was really good. It was great how it also neatly fitted in with topics the Psychology class have been studying as well as those topics that will be studied by Chemistry and Biology (e.g. gel electrophoresis, protein structure, etc.)."
Cheers

"Elise was an engaging speaker who really connected with our students. Her passion for her research was evident in her presentation and it was pitched at a level that the students were able to understand. It is very worthwhile having someone like Elise share her educational journey; informing students that there are multiple pathways to future careers and that options for change are available at each step along the way means more coming from a young person such as her.
Thank you, Angela, the Business Liaison Association and UQ Wonder of Science for providing this opportunity for our students."
