The Cairns RSL Sub Branch would like to invite your school to participate in the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Poetry Competition, depicting The Spirit of ANZAC.
The Cairns RSL Sub Branch has undertaken a commitment to keep the Spirit of ANZAC alive.
The competition seeks to stimulate awareness about Armistice Day, by encouraging the students to acknowledge and commemorate the involvement that Australian soldiers had, through researching the history of WW1 and writing a poem. It will inspire the younger generation to express their respect and gratitude to the men and women who demonstrated courage, and bravery in serving our Country and appreciate our time of peace in modern day Australia because of it.
The top poems from each year level, years 7 to 12, will be published in The Spirit of ANZAC Centenary Book. 100 poems will be published alongside images from World War One. The distribution of the books will assist to preserve the honour of our ANZAC troops and showcase the sacrifices they made for the safety and freedom of others.
The final winner of the poetry competition will receive flights and accommodation for two adults and two children to a significant ANZAC Day Commemorative Service in 2019.
All registered participants will receive a certificate.
The winner will be announced at an awards presentation on Saturday 10th November 2018, 5:00pm at The Cairns RSL Sub Branch.
Terms and Conditions: All poems must be originals. Any plagiarisms will result in instant disqualification. Poems must be present on one A4 size page and submitted in a word document.
The Cairns RSL Sub Branch looks forward to receiving a hard copy or electronic version of your students work with the attached registration form (page 2 which has been emailed to your school) at the address provided.
