Business Liaison Association
Kerrie Stanley 08 May, 2018 Gifted and Talented Programs

On Monday 23 April Cairns SHS welcomed Christine Anu, to perform In Conversation and Song. Five state schools across the Cairns region engaged with this opportunity, unfortunately Tully SHS and Redlynch SC withdrew from the event last term.

None the less, over one hundred and sixty students from Trinity Bay SHS and 250 students from Cairns SHS enjoyed an afternoon of music, memories and conversation with Christine Anu. Christine discussed her career, life and work as an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the community, as well as the importance of indigenous languages in cultural identity. She performed a special selection of acoustic tracks which resonated and inspired students.

Many thanks to the Business Liaison Association for funding this program – certainly very worthwhile for our students.

Jeanette Gibbins (HOD Performing Arts Trinity Bay SHS) with 3 staff from TBay attended.

Sarah Daggett (HOD Performing Arts), Chris Zilm, and 4 teachers from Cairns High attended.
