Our Excellence in Performing Arts Sponsors

Hosted by the Business Liaison Association (BLA) in partnership with local schools and community stakeholders in Cairns, North Queensland. 

The Business Liaison Association extends its sincere appreciation to Catholic Education Dioceses of Cairns and Reach Bently Park College for their valued sponsorship of the Excellence in Performing Arts.

Through their ongoing support, we continue to strengthen pathways between education, training, and employment, empowering the next generation of students and future professionals across Far North Queensland.

 

Overview

The Performing Arts Awards recognise outstanding Year 12 students from Cairns and the Far North Queensland region who demonstrate excellence and commitment to the fields of Dance, Drama, and Music.

These prestigious awards support students intending to pursue tertiary study in Performing Arts in 2027, encouraging continued development of creative talent and contribution to the arts sector.

 

Eligibility and Conditions of Entry

Schools may nominate Year 12 students demonstrating excellence in:

  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Music

To be eligible, students must:

  • Achieve a minimum B+ standard in Dance, Drama, or Music based on QCAA-confirmed results across two internal assessment tasks prior to the closing date
  • Note: In the event of a high number of applications, A-standard students may be prioritised during shortlisting
  • Provide evidence of a first preference intention to undertake tertiary study in Performing Arts in 2027, verified by:
    • The School Principal, and
    • The Head of Department
  • Submit a QTAC application to support tertiary intentions
  • Demonstrate involvement in extracurricular performing arts activities, such as:
    • Musicals, Eisteddfods, Choirs, Dance/Drama productions, Instrumental Music Ensembles
    • Community or professional performing arts programs, events, or workshops
  • Demonstrate high-level performance skills, leadership, and contribution to school and community arts

All submissions must be the original work of the student.

 

Prize & Bursaries

Winner                              $500

Runner Up                        $300

Encouragement Award     $150

Please note: Final prize amounts may vary from those listed above, depending on sponsorship contributions and the number of applicants.
