On Tuesday 15 March, 12 students from years 10 to 12 went to Ergon Energy to hear about career pathways in the company, and how they can best utilise the wonderful opportunities provided at school to achieve their goals. The students were spoken to by electrical engineers, diesel mechanics, electricians, engineering paraprofessionals, team leaders and HR representatives, and were able to ask as many questions as they wanted to find out what it takes to work for Ergon. We then toured the facilities and one lucky student was able to experience how hard it is to work with their hands when they are wearing the protective gear of the Linesman! As always, we are so grateful to Ergon for the time and effort they put into providing these opportunities for our students – they demonstrate their investment in the next generation through the number of people they make available for these experiences, and their obvious delight in speaking with our students. These opportunities are made available through the Business Liaison Association (BLA), and of course, the dedicated teachers at SSHS who lead these excursions.
