The Business Liaison Association and the Department of Education Far North Region invite secondary students across the region to participate in the 2025 Far North Region Literary Competition. This competition is designed to encourage creative writing and provide students an opportunity to enhance their literary skills while promoting future career pathways.
The competition is open to all students enrolled in the Far North Queensland region enrolled in English and Literature. The competition aims to foster creative writing, expression, and development of literary talents across all secondary school sectors in the Far North Region. Students are encouraged to write an original, imaginative text, using aesthetic features and stylistic devices. The choice of genre and subject matter is up to the student (except for poetry). Schools are encouraged to review content for age appropriateness.
Junior School (Years 7-8) – 400-600 words
Middle School (Years 9-10) – 500-800 words
Senior School (Years 11-12) – 1000-2000 word
