Brett Moller Legal Studies Awards

Hosted by the Business Liaison Association (BLA) in partnership with local schools and community stakeholders in Cairns, North Queensland.

 

Bridging pathways between education, training and employment.

 

Overview

The Brett Moller Legal Studies Awards recognise and support Year 12 students from across Cairns and Far North Queensland who demonstrate an aptitude for, and interest in, pursuing a career in law or legal services. These awards aim to foster future legal professionals and encourage regional students to contribute meaningfully to Australian legal and civic life.

 

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Year 12 students from across Cairns and Far North Queensland who demonstrate an aptitude for, and interest in, pursuing a career in law or legal services are entitled to apply for or be nominated by their school.

To be considered, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in Year 12 in 2025 and at a minimum be exhibiting a competency in English and General Mathematics
  • Intend to pursue further education in Law (Bachelor of Laws or dual degree incorporating an LLB) or a related legal field at a university, TAFE, or other tertiary institution
  • Demonstrate academic merit, shown by:
    • A Semester 1 School Report indicating a grade of B or higher in General, Applied, or IB subjects, or
    • A letter of recommendation from a VET trainer or RTO (for students completing Cert II or III)
  • Be endorsed by their school and be willing to participate in an interview, if shortlisted

 

Closing Date: Friday 11th September, 2026


First Prize: $900

Second Prize: $500

Third Prize: $200
