This morning was spent with 220 students and teachers at the Business Liaison Association's and James Cook University's Careers in Health Breakfast. The students listened to a panel of 5 JCU delegates covering industries in Heath like Pharmacy, Speech Therapy, Pathology, Dentistry and Medical Research. They shared their career experiences and explained why they chose that field.
The students then formed working groups to formulate questions with the assistance of their teachers, that they then presented to the panel. The students did well as the questions were well thought out and covered a range of topics. The message that I thought was most beneficial was when Dr Jennings said to the students that "it was OK to let your studies and your career MORPH into new areas and to just roll with it to see where it will take you, as his had taken him all over the world!"
Thank you to the Team at Rydges Esplanade, nothing is ever to much hassle for you guys, you are amazing. Thank you to the teachers and schools for participating - we hope that your students enjoyed the morning. Carli, Cameron, David and the team at JCU - always a pleasure to work with you to coordinate such a successful event. To my team...
