Once again Business Teachers, under the auspices of the Far North Queensland Youth Assistance Fund and the Business Liaison Association, have much pleasure in offering Accounting students from Cardwell to the Cape the opportunity to apply for the KEITH GOODWIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS in SENIOR ACCOUNTING AND BUSINESS. These prestigious awards have been offered annually since 1991, and continues to receive excellent support from the Accounting profession and other interested organisations.
Keith Goodwin, Mayor of Cairns at the time of his tragic death, had been a Commercial Teacher in the early part of his working life. Each year his memory is honoured by these awards, which are directed towards the university education of students who have excelled in this field and who wish to continue their study of business-related subjects.
Would you please help our committee by informing your Year 12 Accounting students about this award, as well as encouraging their participation.
Attached to this letter is a package which provides comprehensive information about the application process. While the Keith Goodwin Scholarship is the key award, a range of other valuable awards are also offered to students. These are outlined on Page 6 of the application package.
We request that you nominate at least one student (no maximum) from your Senior Accounting class. Each entry should be accompanied with the enclosed application details. To assist with covering associated administrative costs including postage, printing certificates, and the supply of refreshments on the day of the interviews, payment of $88 per school (including GST) should be directed to the Business Liaison Association. A Tax Invoice will be forwarded following the receipt of applications. Interviews will take place on Saturday 13 October 2018 at the Rydges Esplanade Resort, 209 Abbott Street, Cairns.
We hope that this will be a rewarding experience for all applicants who are short-listed for interviews. If a short-listed applicant is unable to attend the interview eg living in a remote location, arrangements will be made for the applicant to be interviewed via Skype (or similar). We do encourage students from remote schools to apply. Your support, and written endorsement on the completed application/s forms, will ensure that no suitable candidate is overlooked.
