Awards for Excellence in Visual Arts 2018

The Business Liaison Association Inc, in conjunction with the Peninsula Art Educators’ Association, is launching bursaries for students of the Cairns Region interested in pursuing a career in the Visual Arts or Creative Industries through study at Tertiary or TAFE Level.  The Bursaries will be open to Year 12 students studying Visual Arts, Photography, Film and Television or recognised Creative Studies SAS.

The Awards are in the form a suitably engraved plaque and a certificate which is supported by a range of bursaries: one $750.00 bursary; two $500.00 bursaries and two $250 bursaries.  The Queensland Government Department of Education (DoE) is providing a $400 Indigenous Encouragement Award for Indigenous students wishing to further their study in the Visual Arts at either Tertiary level or TAFE.

We congratulate the Peninsula Art Educators’ Association - coordinators of these Awards and encourage all schools to nominate suitable applicants for the new initiative within the Visual Arts in the Cairns Region.

Please use the following form or download information from our website www.bla.org.au. Please read details and conditions carefully and forward registration forms by Friday 14th September (Week 9 Term 3) 2018.  Also note the following:

  1. Each school will be invoiced $88 (inc GST) to cover administrative costs of the Awards.
  2. All students who participate will be eligible for a Certificate of Participation.  The winners will be given a separate Certificate acknowledging this.
  3. All entries must be forwarded to Tracy Mortimer, Woree SHS by 18th October 2018.

A Presentation Function will be held on Wednesday 28 November at the Cairns Hilton Hotel from 5:30-7:30 pm and invitations will be forwarded at a later date.  All students receiving awards are required to attend. We encourage you to participate in these Awards.

Closing Date: Thursday 24th October, 2019

First Prize: $750 bursary

Second Prize: 2 x $500 bursaries

Third Prize: 2 x $250

Runner Up Prize: 1 x $400 Indigenous Encouragement Award
