About the Business Liaison Association
The Business Liaison Association (BLA) is a not-for-profit incorporated association established in 1993. The BLA plays a unique role in bridging the gap between education and industry by creating meaningful connections between secondary students, schools and the business community.
The Association has developed strong working relationships with secondary schools throughout Far North Queensland and provides students with relevant, up-to-date knowledge, skills and resources to help them understand and prepare for the current and evolving world of work.
Our vision is to educate, connect and improve the lives of young people in our region.
Dedicated to advancing career opportunities and pathways for secondary school students, the BLA is uniquely positioned to broker valuable opportunities for young people across Far North Queensland.
The BLA has access to approximately 11,000 Year 10, 11 and 12 students from Tully to Mossman and throughout the Tablelands. In recent years, the Association has also expanded some of its services to remote schools across the Cape and Gulf regions.
By collaborating with schools, training providers, employment agencies, government departments, professional associations and industry representatives, the BLA facilitates a range of programs and events, including:
Students interested in participating in BLA activities can access information through their school guidance officers, career advisers and vocational education teachers.
Each year, in partnership with a growing network of businesses in Cairns and beyond, the Association delivers a range of awards, competitions and bursaries designed to bring students, educators and industry together. These opportunities would not be possible without the generous support of our industry sponsors.
The BLA is committed to advancing career opportunities and pathways for secondary students. We believe amazing things happen when schools and businesses work together—and we are proud to help make those connections possible.
If you would like to work with us to help educate, inspire and create opportunities for young people in our region, please talk to us.
